Let 1 Thing Go
When we create unreasonably high expectations for ourselves or expect ourselves to do everything perfectly, we raise our stress levels and set ourselves up for experiencing anxiety and depression. Perfection simply isn’t possible for humans.
- Choose one task to let go of in order to focus on your other priorities. Maybe it’s mopping the floors, putting up every single Christmas decoration, a therapy activity you were planning to do with your child, or a holiday party you could skip.
- Give yourself permission to take that time to just breathe or do something to relax.
- Over the next week, look at your plans and to-do list and see if there are any tasks or activities you can eliminate because they really won’t make a difference in the long run.
- Smile and tell yourself that you are doing a good job.
