Breath Prayer
Combining just being in the present moment and becoming aware of God’s presence can have a powerful impact on your day. You can leave the experience and return to your day more hopeful, joyful, and calm.
Try this simple practice:
- Take two deep cleansing breaths (see Day 9 for how to do this most effectively)
- Simply be.
- Notice your breathing. As you inhale, know that you are breathing in the breath of God.
- As you exhale, breathe out your worries to God.
- Pray one of these prayers in your mind or one of your choosing as you continue deep breathing:
- Inhale, “I come to you, God” and exhale, “I receive your grace.”
- Inhale, “I receive your peace” and exhale, “I give you my worries.”
- Inhale, “I breathe in your life” and exhale, “I release my fears.”
- Inhale, “I give you my (insert emotion) and exhale, “Fill me with your love.”
